Favour/personal request
« on: Jul 27, 2009; 11:13 PM »
This may be a pain to do, but as someone who is currently running my game almost completely unHelled, I have made a lot of my own modifications to HG:L, so would it be possible to get the 1.0 patch as just a zip with the modified files instead of the .IDX installer? Or would it not effect my current mods?

You'll be fine just downloading the patch then extracting what you want out of it. If you don't want to use the hglzapper, you don't have to.
I'm talking about the patch here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19

So, aren't we good enough for these modifications you've done Berit :?:    :D  :D
Or are you worried about corrupting us in some strange manner?  :D

 truth to tell, I was afraid some of them simply weren't good enough for public display, but I promise now that we have a squeeky clean, shiny new forum, I'm encouraged to improve my mods and upload them for all ... My internet is currently capped (again) so I can only chat from work, but as soon as I can I'll be re-posting my Texture mods plus a help file and some other stuff

.
.
Thanks for the reassurance BTW I was worried I'd loose all my posters, altered weapons and wall textures

I don't think that the zpper would actually work on the fake idx files we get when going through the unhelling process.

Hey Berit,
I really recommend you back up your IDX files in several states for easy restoration (one version clean, on version with Revival mods, another version with Revival mods + your mods). HGL-zapper has depreciated the old unhell method in my opinion.  8-)

Basically, it's your choice... I've pointed this out here before: http://www.hellgateaus.info/forum/viewto ... 564#p11564

Put the (mod) files you'd like to play with in their proper place, run hglzap and after that you can edit them any time you like just how you would with unhelled files, too...

hglzap doesn't really care what a mod consists of / what files belong to it. It just scan for anything below Hellgate's base path that 'looks' like extra files, checks to see if the .IDXs contain any references to those files, and if so "zaps" them. It's a very simple way to force Hellgate to use the 'fallback' mechanism of reverting to use the files direct from disk... Nothing more, nothing less.

Hi ndarkstar!

It all started here: Smashing .IDX for fun and profit. You could also have a look at the SVN, there's a basic README file (hglzap.txt) in the doc/ directory.

 Well I guess I'll have to post them now, the cat being out of the proverbial bag so to speak ... I don't know whether all of them need to be uploaded
[attachment=0:32juj4h1]For Laughs.jpg[/attachment:32juj4h1]

But I'll sort through them and create some screenshots and once my internet connection is back up to speed I'll post then in the Texture mod thread ...

BTW ... OT ... I'm working on those Drink machines for you Maeyan

BTT ... I do have a completely virgin installation of HG:L, plus a 1.2 modded version, and several copies of almost every unHelled file ... but I never had a problem running any mods so far so I haven't bothered with the HGLzapper ... plus in my (ahem addled?) mind I prefer seeing the files all spread out before me on the HDD, I find it easier to work with for some reason <insert something about the idiosyncrasies of the Creative Genius Mind here>

That file(the picture) has to be in it :D
I prefer to see only the files I work on, but considering I'm working on just the excel directories, that's not many anyway.
And there was a big speed improvement since NiteHawks zapper. None of this waiting several seconds after clicking on a merchant before it's inventory turns up.
