Xfire group chat.
« on: Aug 24, 2009; 06:52 AM »
If everyone who still plays, starts using xfire again and join the xfire chat channel "Hellgate Revival" we can get some sense of community going again. The chat has a few drawbacks, it isn't just in a window scrolling but rather something you would need to pull up every now and then. But since a lot of the players were used to playing alone and chatting with people during down time between runs or whatever, perhaps this may help. Gives everyone some place to share successes and questions, etc...

Any one with me? :D

Well it appears there is no way to "join" a room without being invited. So everyone friend me or "otopico" so we can get this going.

eh some of us talk on skype...and i always talked while doing runs even...if something was going down in chat-1 i was in on it(same goes for guild chat) and i guess if we got a big enough group going i would not mind doing it...give me something to do while playing any of my games

If you check the xfire, there are still quite a few people playing single player HG:L. Just getting 20 or 30 to join up would go along ways... that said, the xfire group functionality is somewhat lame. Waiting to hear back from them if making static channels that anyone can join is ever going to be possible.

With a little configuring you can have the "channel chat" pop up in the spot where the old chat used to be, and with the settings tuned right it doesn't obstruct view. One then has to hit the xfire chat command to reply, which then bring up the full chat display. Not too much of a problem and does allow people playing SP to chat with others. The main problem is that someone has to setup the group and then invite people... and everyone needs to know or be friends with someone who is on the channel to get invited. Not good.

the only thing is that this site is supposed to be "underground" meaning the only way people can know about it is if they were told about it or if they already know of its existance...only way to get to this site is in the wiki(you actually have to be looking for the link though) and on google...but the only way to find it on google as of right now is if you actually type in "hellgate revival"...and well...the only people that will do that is if they already know of the site lol
