The Wall!
« on: Aug 20, 2009; 06:42 AM »
Hey guys was just wondering is there any way currently to continue HG:L without doing the dumb wall quest (oh how I dislike doing this one), or is that part of the main story, has to be taken on to continue.

Oh man, the humanity, that quest is the most boring/annoying part of the entire game, it's just right there in the top with:

-The obscene amount of middle stations to get to everywhere from Temple stations (that just gets old fast, in some parts you are just replaying the entire same level again).
-The deadbeat quests such as "collect 10 of these" and who can't forget "kill 10 of those".
-The fact that of the +20 guns avaible to each faction, about 3 or 4 are actually useful.
-That your first point is already spent in a deadbeat skill that you probably won't use (looking at you inhibitor bots!).

We are putting everything back one thing at a time. Understand we are not meeting a 31st October 2007 deadline :) Hellgate London is not finished, and either are those quests :) That is the template for a fun quest event but they never did end up did putting any creative, fun thought into it. If we do recreate the quest mechanics of this or any other quest, it will be done with plenty of thought & creativity. There is no shortage of ideas on this forum & my standard of quality is high, don't you worry  :D

Your concerns have already been assessed by the team as well Orson. :) I've been playing this game since it came out, I am well aware of what is wrong with it hehe

I realize that this and other quests will be fixed/removed etc, what I mean is that in "normal" HG:L, even without the fun patch can we bypass the Wall quest and still continue the story line through to the end or was this part of the main quest line, because if I abandon the Wall quest the game quits out and I have to retake it to get any further in the game.

If your discussing Hellgate: London, i'll move this thread to the correct subforum.

You need to finish this quest to continue unfortunately.

Don't worry, there is an easy way to do it:
1. If you are an evoker, just blink through the wall and do the damn thing yourself. ;)
2.If you are not an evoker then just keep clicking, way past your guys if you have to (then demons don't spawn ;)) until your screen reaches beezlebub, then just repeatadly fire field him until he ignites, then he will die in a matter of seconds.
P.S. When your guys die, the map doesn't reset, just keep doing that over and over. :D

I have nothing against quests where you have to kill 10 this or bring 10 ears, as long they work. They don't. Those stupid templars always kill my plague zombies (so remove them) and Jessica always kills my souldrinkers (remove her, she is just a waste of space anyway). The Wall-quest is stupid and unnecessary waste of time, and so is the Big Gundown. I like cleansing the Angel Passage, some don't.

In all, the quests make the story, and the story is not good. They never focused much in that area, looks like they in Flagship thought it is just something that must be there and it doesn't matter what crap they put together, players anyway just want to kill and loot. Big mistake. I was very supprised how bad the storyline and quests are. The idea was so good, and then they ruin it. The idea of London destroyed by Demons is very good, and I felt sorry to see how it was treated.

Which one was "The Wall" Again? I don't really pay attention to the quest names except for some "clever" ones like "...all the live long day" and such.

It's the one where you are controlling 4 useless idiots from above and trying to bomb the end boss.

I don't really mind doing the quest myself, it's having to sit there while someone else does it that's annoying. Sure, I could leave the party and do it myself, but I shouldn't have to do that.
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.
