Saves compatibility???

I know that the save games from Hellgate London 2007 are compatible with the Steam version, but is it the other way too? Currently I do not have a boxed version. I'd like to get all these unavailable / bugged items and go back to Steam. Drop the articles from other characters on the local network. Maybe there is a working program besides Reanimator that allows you to switch items between characters. It would solve all problems.

And I already know they're incompatible backwards. Now I see how this game looks pretty and it runs fast on my old laptop compared to the steam version and hence my question. How do I migrate textures from 2007 to steam? Need to extract / edit .dat files, compare the content, copy those from the original and merge them again? The ones to download from the forum have different names and probably don't have textures from Tokyo? Here I found other textures but they are packed and I haven't downloaded them yet.
