Animation tweaking
« on: Mar 29, 2016; 08:34 PM »
My son and I were chuckling at the high speed shuffle that the poor dual wielders are forced to do (Blademaster Sprint ftw). I tried messing about in the Stances section with Reanimator, but had no visible results. I'd just like to see how the normal one hand equip Sprint looks when dual wielding. Anyone had success changing default animations?

On a side note: Does HG:L pull data from all cooked files in the Excel folder? Like when I tweaked the animation entries, I saved it as a new animations_group.txt.cooked file.

I haven't seen anyone else mention modifying animations, so I don't think anyone has changed them.

If you have the file outside of a *.dat/*.idx, then you'll need to use File Explorer to "Extract and Patch Index". The game won't recognise them otherwise.

So any changes made with Reanimator need the Extract and Patch Index step to be recognized? Or just changes that result in a new cooked file?

Only if you don't want to pack the files into *.dat/*.idx
So if you want Hellgate London/Data/excel/items.txt.cooked, then you would Extract and Patch.

Is the fastest way to test a single tweak to:
A. Save cooked file, pack it, and drop in data
B. Save cooked file, Extract and patch
C. Something else?

I opened File Explorer and the file tree doesn't reflect my installation folder. How do I navigate to a specific file?

I generally do A. since I'm only modifying the tables.
Or I'll export the table as a text file and modify it with notepad, then hellpack it then move into Data.

If I use Reanimator to open a saved table, should the table reflect the changes I made? As it doesn't seem to be. For example, I change some of the fields in animations_group under melee melee. I save, exit, and reopen Reanimator and open cooked file. All the original values are there, not the edited values.

I haven't tried exporting the table and cooking it yet, as I was having trouble using Hellpack still.

Reanimator only reads from the *.idx/*.dat, not plain cooked files.
