need help with .cooked (solved)

 hello cheat here and i would like to know if someone could tell me how to make a text doc into a .txt.cooked the mod installer wont work with my PC and was going to manually install it. only problem is i don't know how to convert these files to do so.

am thankful for any way to do this

Edit: if there is anything that i can do to install these without cooking them as well without the launcher that would be great as well

Edit3: solved by Malachor thanks for the help but the mod i needed installed was the 1.5b1 mod only problem i do not see any difference with the game play mind telling me what it is so i know if it worked

Grab the 1.5b1 launcher from the first post here
Extract it, then copy the text files you want to pack into that folder, keeping the directory structure intact:
data/excel/
data_common/excel/
Then run Hellpack.exe
That will create a .dat and .idx, in the data folder, which you then copy into the Hellgate London/Data folder, and run the game.

They must be cooked for the game to recognise and use them.

edit: ok one problem i looked in the files that i was installing and noticed that i had the option to add extra inventory and  that the cube was suppose to be in there too only problem i didn't receive any of it i can install the lost London pack for the 1.2.1 launcher just anything with the 1.5b1 wont work. is the re a way to install the 1.5b1.mod.zip using the 1.2.1 launcher because doing it manually dose not seem to work

With the expanded storage optional mod(I assume you're talking about this?), you have to make sure that the check box is ticked, I find clicking on it twice does the job.
Regarding the cube, when you login to the game, you should get a message onscreen along the lines of "Nemo has something special for you."

Well... 120 days necro but since my question is somewhat relevant to answers...
Any way to specify...err... index name for packed files? I couldn't find any info on packager or anything relevant to reanimator... so I sorta figured what I wanted with trial and error but now I wonder if I need multiple changes they would all end up with same name ~_~ Hows that suppose to work?
Will simply renaming it after it got packaged work?... somehow looking at how much of a creaky stone age this engine is... I somewhat doubt it.
I'm guessing .idx is the index and .dat is the package itself. So just changing name wouldn't do anything...
All I want is to change a few bits in monster table so 1 file... and yet there seems to be a million and 1 step. There is even a mod for it... granted with no clear description on what changed and how. And the fact it crashes hgl as soon as I click sp >_>
