Cheat Engine, Win8, 64 bit blues.
« on: Apr 26, 2015; 08:51 PM »
Hiyas.

New to the forums, fired up Hellgate, tinkered a bit, looked for a trainer to import palladium, and wound up here.

So far, it seems, after perusing both this forum, the Cheat Engine forums, and googling stuffs, that you simply can't hack Hellgate in 64 bit.

Am I wrong here?

I can find the values, modify the fields, but I can't get the values to hold.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

When using HxD you had to save (on the file tab) to write the changes into the game's memory space.
Otherwise- no changes get made.

Hiyas, thanks for the reply.

HxD doesn't work in Win8, as for "save", perhaps I'm looking at the wrong thing, but Cheat Engine tries to save memory ranges as a log file.

It also has the option of saving your current work as a tutorial.

This has to be the most unfriendly game editor I've played with, and I've been at this a while.

That having been said, I'm fully willing to consider user error, it has a long and proud history.

Funny part is, if I modify the field values, and buy something, for just a hair, a *blink*, the number is what I set it at, and then reverts back to the original total.

Kind of like a broken slot machine that never pays out.

On Win7 x64 you can use cheatengine for Palladium, Stats and sometimes inventory items (crafting). 4byte interger values, scan only in base or shop menu.
Do not move, try to minimize interaction with the game except modifying values - add one stat point - alt tab -rescan or sell something rescan.

For skill points you will need to edit quest.txt in revival mod or whichever mod you are using and add the cooked version to the mod.zip, and edit the install file.
