Cheat Engine skill point hacking
« on: Feb 02, 2014; 08:10 PM »
Hey All,

Ever since getting Windows x64 I have been able to hack every value except skill points and I was wondering if anyone knows how to add skill points using cheat engine or another similar program?

Thanks

dunno about how to add skill points with cheat engine, but it might be easier to do so with a mod. at least one of the mod had a skill point as a reward for a starting quest, so it might be possible to, like, add new item to the game that will give you skill points.

hey thanks for the info, I am already running revival 1.5b, can I put another mod on top of that one that offers different rewards? I don't really like the constant monster scaling in Nagahaku

i'm not sure if you've installed just 1.5b launcher or the whole mod...
global mods like Revival or Nagahaku will overwrite each other (almost) completely, other mods will change big parts of global mods. there's some smaller mods that's 'compatible' (doesn't messes overwrites important changes) with specific Revival versions, but if you can't find compatible version it's better to make your own mod by copying desired changes from modded file to the one that game is using.
and i don't remember any mods  or a way to give a player multiple skill points. i think it's only available as a quest reward and you will probably need to create a new item which will both start and end the quest and add it to some vendor(s).
can't give any further information, i haven't been doing any modding quite some time.

Hi,

According to malachor's PDF it's :
<
Strength: 00 00 00 06 xx 00 00 00
Stamina: 00 00 80 06 xx 00 00 00
Will: 00 00 80 08 xx 00 00 00
Crit chance: 00 00 C0 12 xx 00 00 00
All defences: 00 00 80 1F xx 00 00 00 Don't adjust this, it resets back to normal on level up.
Palladium: 00 00 40 24 xx 00 00 00
Current xp: 00 00 80 24 xx 00 00 00
Needed xp: 00 00 00 25 xx 00 00 00
Stat points: 00 00 40 25 xx 00 00 00
Skill points: 00 00 80 51 xx 00 00 00
Your skills are listed close to the above attributes, but only if you can use them(like left attack etc), or if you
have one point in them(like sprint or normal skills), then you can manually adjust them.
>

Sometimes, the offsets for attributes are mixed up. Be careful then.

I think I could use some pointers how to use the Cheat Engine properly. Been trying to go through the CE tutorial but that just got me more confused. I just want to use the skills respecing method described in AdjustedItemProperties.pdf by Malachor and finding the right address doesn't sound so hard. I've only used HxD before, but apparantly it doesn't work with the 64-bit version of HGL. I'm following the guidelines below, but all that comes up is "Nothing found".

Quote
Open HGL and press "esc" on your character
In Cheat Engine,
open the hellgate process
"view memory" (button on left middle)
search for the string in question
When you find the correct line, edit the numbers to the desired result (I typed over the remainder of the line, until it went on to the next line, just to be sure)
Leave Cheat Engine running
Switch back to HGL and without going back into the game, save/exit.
When you log back in the changes will be in effect.

Thanks

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm playing an unmodded 1.2 version of HG:L.
