If you like Hellgate and want to remember a bit of old times, this mod is the best solution for you. Contains elements from many versions of the game, while maintaining the original gameplay.
Mod retains original skills, quests and monsters, but adds some things from early game concept (for example using implants), original online game (pets, dye kits, events..), game from test servers (new weapons, rings, many types of monsters), korean Hellgate Global (bosses, weapons) and ideas of members the Hellgateaus community (expanded stash, better monsters info, cheats..).


Important ! All attachments on this forum is visible only if you are registered user and logged in.

Development of official Revival mod from Hellgateaus community it was completed by version 1.5b2.
Unofficial Revival mod (v1.6 and up) is extension of this mod - whole content of official revival is included, lots of errors has been fixed and some things were added.

Mod can be installed through "Revival 1.5b1 launcher".
You need:
 - installed game client Hellgate London from original disc or iso image (supported languages is english and czech)
 - installed 1.2 SP and 2.0 MP (TCv4) patches (its necessary run both clients (SinglePlayer and MultiPlayer) once after installation of patches)
Unpack the launcher to any location, start "launcher.exe", go to utilities section and choose "modifications - install".
On select screen load "revival un 4.0 .mod.zip". Do not unpack mod before installation !
For more information take look on topic "The "new" launcher (for Revival 1.5 and up)" from Bryan or "Revival 1.5b2 SP Modification" from Malachor.

Installation of Revival mod automatically revert all before installed mods.

Compatibility of gamesaves from foregoing versions of this mod or from original game is high, but not guaranteed.
Everytime backup your save games before mod instalation !!!



4.0 Patch Notes
---------------

- Some correctures have been made in the English version of the texts - thanks to Bryan for that

- !!! - From version 3.8 is in mod one bug (mea culpa) - Halloween event quests cannot appear in nightmare difficulty. In 4.0 is this bug fixed, but unfortunately it was necessary to reset the quest with Transmogrifying cube (culpa of FSS). New characters do not notice anything, but all old characters, which was saved in 3.8 or 3.9 version, will be called to pick up new cube from Nemo at Holborn station.
  Players will be excited about having the second cube, but only until he finds out that the cube is not an item but only a shortcut - all cubes open one same grid. So, i changed rules for owning cube - the cube can now be dropped, if you have duplicate of it (same system working on pets). Just take new cube from Nemo and one from two cubes throw away, it does not matter which one.
  This bugfix can be used to obtain "God's Breath" gun for old characters, which were founded before this function was created. Just reinstall mod with fuction "Cheat mode for beginners" on.

- Loot rules and properties (mainly base damage) of weapons Hellbores, Thumpers, Chargers, Starburst, Pyrocasters, Pyrosmashers, Negatrons, Inferni was changed. Except Thumper, these are weapons from Stonehenge expansion, with poorly set parameters (from FSS). Personally, i think that weapons have only beta settings, FSS it was not enough to finish. Weapons should now be much more usable in the game.
  Before install this patch remove all this weapons from character hands and weapons slots !!!

- Weapons Gleamcarvers, Dissectors, Starbursts, Chargers, Pyrocasters, Pyrosmashers and Inferni now make sounds (replaced, not original)

- While testing of item drop for 2038 project i found out (for my own suprise) that 3D model of Dissector shield allows use up to two fuel slots. So, newly generated Dissector shields now can have 0-2 slots for fuel.

One new install option:
- Faction Combined - Classes of same faction would share their skilltrees - experimental function, use it at your own risk
  - some people still asked me for a "skill merge" function. I asked for help Seferoth, explored similar function in Nagahaku mod and there is result. I would point out in advance that this is basically an unsupported function in beta state.
    If you activate this function, then all game characters will have in skill tree menu (upper right corner) new buttons, same like in "Lost London" mod. There is possible acces skilltree of opposite profession in character faction (Blademaster will have here Guardian skilltree, Marksman skilltree for Engineer ...).
    If you invest skill point to some skill which have both of proffesion (Blink for example), then skillpoint will be added to both this skills. Properties of this skill will be however dependent on shortcut which make in skill bar - if you take shortcut from evoker skilltree, then will be used evoker version of this spell + bonuses for evokers. Is possible use both skills together (in case of Blink two jumps in a row behind each other), all skills have own cooldown, shared is only "group" cooldown (prohibition of skill from group after use another).
    Due to problems was disabled shared use of Evoker/Summoner skills "Summon Ember"/"Summon fire elemental". Each class can use only own version of this skill

- Quest boss Kohama now have 25% chance on drop one new rune while kill. This rune can be used directly, with a surprising effect :)


Mod is now much larger than before and can not be distributed via Hellgateaus site.

This is end of my work on Hellgate Revival. I will be still here if you find some bugs, or for info about mod. But i can not fix all the errors that the game has  :)
For people who want to play online as well: "London 2038" project is in stable "public open" alpha stage. Its possible make on you computer dual installation of Hellgate and play both (London 2038 and Revival) simultaneously.
You must follow this instruction:

How play 2038 and revival together on one computer: 1. Install Hellgate London and both patches 2. Backup whole folder "Flagship Studios" with different name. 3. Instal revival 4. To backuped folder install 2038 files 5. Keep both folders in "program files". The version you want to play rename to "Flagship studios", the other may have an arbitrary name. Do not forget to run every version with the right loader inside folder...

One friendly warning: Chat troll "Wollah_bee" is currently online again. Info about it see at London 2038 site.  ;D
One of the things i planned for v4.0 was support the Russian language. Unfortunatelly, after more than two months of work and practically everyday communication with a subcontractor i do not even have a working version of the language file. Nobody is communicating with me at present, so I think the project is lost  :'(


10.01.2019 - Update 1 - Unzip file attached bellow, then open file "revival un4.0 .mod.zip" and replace file "install.xml".
During installation of mod, a new function appears in the optional menu - Multi Aura - Allow you activate every aura you learned at the same time - experimental function ported from Nagahaku mod, use it at your own risk.

For old or new character ?
This quest is not repeatable, can be taken only twice for one character - first in normal mode, then in nightmare mode.

For a new character.  I ran him through all of the station's quests and then moved on the Templar base, and Mag never gave the quest.

Ah, Mag no give ANY quests ?
Mag must be initialized first. His first quest appears after you done some quests on Charing cross. If remember correctly, you must done some quest from Gil.

Ok, this one is my fault!

I did not use the PDA I got from the Dead Pool quest, so I never got the quest to kill Cracklepop, which is her last quest.

Edit:  That was the problem.  Everything is working out fine.

Man, Katamari is stingy with those weapons!  My blademaster got the sword on the 3rd attempt, and it's awesome, btw.  My poor marksman has killed him dozens of times and I have only seen the Cabalist weapon drop once.

Is there any use for Wollah's Secret, or is that a leftover from his import?

To Brimhir - Katamari giving all three weapons with same probability, you are just unlucky.
Wollah secret have hidden stats upgrade - quote text is clue, you can recognize it easy - just see stats of character.

As luck would have it, I decided to try one quick run before heading to work, and The Steamer dropped.  So, good luck for today!

And i had read online that Wollah's Secret needed to be run through the Cube, but it didn't do anything.  I did equip it, and I can see what changed.  So, all is well!

"Wollah secret" ring can be obtained only like loot from Terrible monster, not from cube.
Ring have hidden bonus to critital chance and critical damage.

I thought that, too.  I ended up just shooting him for a while and finally he stared losing hit points.  I used 2 different characters and both worked the same.  I kept restarting, thinking he was bugged.  It's just that you need to shoot him a while with God's Touch and eventually, it works on him.

Both God's gun (Touch, Breath) have composite missile. While firing is released one projectile and this projectile split after some time of flight. Ability remove immortality from Death have only secondary missiles.
So, you need shoot not close enough, but from a greater distance...

Just an unimportant comment: more of an FYI, actually.  These guys do not drop their signature loot.

- Rat-monkey:Relics (Holborn access shafts from Holborn station).
- Sleestak: Fuels (Upper Kingsway sewers from Covent Garden Station).
- Mini Dynamo: Techs (Green Park approach from Charing Cross Station or Green Park Station).

Not a huge deal, as there is so much else in the game.  I just wanted to mention it.  And, I like to keep the thread going, because I still really enjoy this mod.

This monsters have loot like a normal champions, special loot gives only on first kill.
Fiirst kill loot is randomly generated. This settings is from original Revival.
For example Sumatran rat monkey have on first kill 100% chance to drop one from three items (so 33,33% for one from it) - Rat monkey claw relic, dye kit Shadow tiger, dye kit Kung fu bunny.

Basically, you can create support for any language that supported the original game.
But there is need a person who also speaks English and has some experience with editing texts in special formats.
I have already given support to people who wanted to create another language support, but so far this effort has always ended with failure. The text file is not small and editing is quite demanding.
So, for now is not planned support for any other language, sorry.

Hello, I'm new here and have never played Hellgate before. I tried to install this mod and I get an error when clicking the install button. The only components that are checked are remove censoring and increase monster information. The error I get says:  value cannot be null. parameter name: value.

I did the following steps leading up to this error:

1. Installed Hellgate London dvd iso and entered serial
2. Installed SP 1.2 and ran game once using SP_64
3. Installed MP 2.0 and ran game once using MP_64
4. UnZipped the new launcher zip to game directory.
5. Ran Launcher.exe > utilities > modifications > install, i selected version 4.0 of this mod.
6. I kept the default components checked mentioned above and pressed install.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.. but I always get that error when I press install.

Your install process is right.
This error means that the mod data is corrupted. But, on some machines i also encountered the fact that this error was reported falsely.
Try to run mod installation process several times, 4-5x. Run revival launcher, pick 4.0.zip, click on install, if error occured close launcher and run it again.
If all of this attempt fails, try re-download .rar file with Revival mod.

After some tinkering, I got it working. Under the components I had to uncheck remove censoring and then press install. Leaving the remove censoring checked always gave me the error. I can check any additional components on that list except for remove censoring, not sure why, but it seems to be working for me now. I'm currently 6 character levels into the game, I chose to play as a marksman for my first playthrough; having a blast so far, good mod.  ;)

Maybe this is some incompatibility with the Hellgate game version. I have not yet heard of a similar error.
In any case, it is good that you have solved the problem.

Hi! I'm also new here.

I've followed all the directions in the post. But once i go to Utilities > Modifications > Install and point it to the folder where i have 4.0. It doesn't see the archive.

You must unpack mod file from .rar archive.
Loader can find only file with file extension "*.mod.zip", no matter where file is.

This might be an unusual question, but how can I download this? Generating the download link seems to time out whenever I try it. Only other option is to pay this hoster, though I'm not certain. I don't know any Czech and Google doesn't translate the labels on the buttons.

On the download page see in the upper right corner label "registrovat" and next to this is small icon of czech flag. Click on this flag, in menu select flag of UK and click on it.
Page will be translated to english.
You can start download through "Slow download" option (enter code from picture and then click on "download" button.

Thanks. Turns out I did do it right. I'm waiting for the bar on "FREE stažení 33 min." to fill, and once it does, I get a connection timeout for the site. Checked with Firefox, Chrome and Edge.

Maybe have "Uložto.cz" some temporary problem. From where do you try to download ? So far it has everytime worked. I know for sure that people from both the Russia and the US have downloaded the mod normally without problems..

mod 4.1 Requirements for modification.

I would like to select the probability of appearance of the monster in percentage.
(EX) 120% increase, 150% increase, 170% increase, 200% increase

Chat windows - you cant delete it. This is function from original game.

Clean installation and i got every time i launch game the file: minidump_20181130_1459.dmp, in C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Hellgate\Error

Will this be a problem in future play?

Hi all guys, i have a question.. in original game (before i heard about mod) i played with evoker and use two locus, i attack with "use all weapons" skill and i see two energy balls throwing into enemy`s.. now when i install revival, when i use same skill i don`t see that both weapons attack, i see just one energy ball! and my dmg is only from 1 locus now.. (i read about 120% of damage, but maybe it must be for normal skills only? and not for common attacks?) i tryed use "use left weapon" & "use right weapon" and my second weapon don`t attack at all! it just attacks with my 1st (right) weapon, sometimes on a long distantion it change flying trajectory of ball but that`s all.. when i only starts to play in hgl my tactics was: use skill - use all weapons - repeat.. for don`t waiting cd and sometimes , now it`s useless coz common two weapon attack weaker on 50%.. yeah i understand that it must mainly use skills but.. why? xDD

btw i see some bugs,
1st when i complete Wart quest, his leg don`t changes to new prosthesis and stays with wooden leg.
2nd bug with locus equipped, i don`t remember what locus exactly named but it`s textured with other creepy hand, i think it must stays only that creepy hand but it sees both hands textures at same time.. i readed that it`s impossible to change character texture mode (maybe i`m wrong) than wny not to just move that bugged lokus a little further away from hand, it will look more normal, or it can`t be moved too?

and.. it`s all does not matter if 4.0 mod is last, so.. can we wait further updates?

Things to test:

Under "k" for skills - check that the left weapon fire is dragged into the left circle for left mouse button.
Check the same for right too.

Left mousie button should fire left hand weapon, right fires right.

check also that you CAN use the weapons - sometimes I've noticed that an "installed" weapon becomes red (usually when it need 35 strength and I take off armour that gives me +5 strength)

Also - in the "k" skills screen you have a fire command that fire both weapons, if you drag that to the left fire spot you can fire both with the left mouse button.

Also to note - if you do that and have a gun that fires 300 shots a min and one that fires 20... it'll still fire but it will take a while to get the first shot off.

If this still doesn't work - try a different weapon set.

And it all else fails... you might just have found a bug!!!  *awards "Bug Finder" achievement*

As for the hand/gun textures I think that mods are limited by what the original developer placements were... mods can change a gun to "x" but that "x" texture still sits where the devs made the gun to sit.

Focuses - I do not remember they would shoot two missiles in some version of game, maybe in vanilla. Revival using clean SP 1.2 patch for this, and focuses firing always only one missile (right hand).
If you use dual focus, then is used 60% damage of each focus, so if is damage of both focus 100, then missile deal 120 damage point.In game is not only focuses with energy ball, here is fireballs, fields, bug swarms... Skills have always own missile and damage of skill is defined on focus with parameter "power".

Wart quest - it is so. Flagship planned to change his leg, but it was not enough to finish. In game data is 3D model of Wart with new leg, but not tested.

Focus texture - I did not understand what was going on. Some focuses is not display correctly with some skins or in left hand (see patch notes). Texture of items can be changed easily with Reanimator, but change coordinates od 3D object is not possible.

Update - there are currently no plans for updates

Multi aura ofcourse CAN be ported to Revival, but it's not as easy as it may seem.
Multi aura function is determined in install.xml and can be ported practically without changes. Problem is data for this function. Nagahaku using many changes in skill system, Revival working on clean SP 1.2 patch.
It would be necessary to review all the skills in skill table to find out which auras are and then fit data table for this function in install.xml.

Shared stash is only online stuff and cannot be use without changes in core program. So, for now no one singleplayer using it.
For transfering items between characters is here only one possibility - old betaversion of Reanimator. Transmogrify cube is used for it and the procedure is rather complicated.

OK we have a problem: The test of fellowship quest in Old Street is not doable. The poles disappear after the first one and my total never goes up. After claiming the first one it goes to 8 and then stays there. When I claim the next one (which is not visible) it stay at 8 while the opposing faction just continues to climb until they reach 100 and I lose. Going to reboot everything and see if it makes a difference but it would appear my progress has stopped here  :'(

This is old bug from original game version. You can read about it in patch notes:
"- (original game bug) flagpoles in quests Test of leadership and Test of fellowship is sometimes invisible, but flagpole is still clickable"
I tried fix that, but without success. You must click to open space where the first flagpole stood, cursor is still visible. First click on enemy flagpole - flagpole will be neutral, second click (on neutral flagpole) - flagpole turns to friend flagpole.

First unzip file attached to this message, then open file "revival un4.0 .mod.zip" and replace file "install.xml".
During installation of mod, a new function appears in the optional menu.

Multi Aura - Allow you activate every aura you learned at the same time - experimental function ported from Nagahaku mod, use it at your own risk.

Don't know about dye kits. I have not enabled any of the events so these are the ones that drop from elite mobs, usually in hidden passageways.

XP packs is unique loot and can be obtained only in hidden passageways - in normal mode from lord Velnin and in nightmare from baron Zareph. Spawn chance of this reapers is 100% and chance on drop 100% on one from three type of pack...

They are dropping. It appears they do not work. When you right click on one in your inventory it just disappears. There is no icon showing up that it is in use.

I made quick test right now (run with my blademaster to Aldwych in nightmare mode, found hidden passage, kill baron Zareph, got 25% xp pack, use it, got 10 mins buff), everything working normally for me.

I followed the instructions as posted and everything else works just fine. What do I do now? A reinstall means I lose my characters? Besides that the bonuses were working fine before then they stopped so there is no guarantee that won't happen again.

Reinstalling game or mod no have any effect to gamesaves in "documents".
Your character is apparently ok - i can run it on my system.

So can I reinstall and all is OK? Do I need xp boosts? It would be nice to level up faster as there is a bump between 40 and 45 but I just spent some time rerunning stuff. BTW had a Lee's Lightlance drop! Great fun! I haven't rocked one of those in years! I love the way you've incorporated the stuff from different parts and especially different versions of the game.

I do miss Stonehenge a bit though. Was that not possible when you put all this together?
Again don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful for what you've done with this.....

Try reinstallation of mod first (run launcher and install mod again). If it does not help, then you can try reinstall whole game...
Stonehenge cannot be added to mod in current time, certainly not with the help of Reanimator.

I'm just thinking that the running of the multiplayer patch before installing launcher etc. might have gone wrong, but yeah I'll do that again. Did not know Re-animator did not include Stonehenge so thanks for that info...the game is quite punishing when you're below level...eg: I'm @ level 42 and the story is level 46. It's tough going sometimes. Do I need the xp boosts to help with this?

Oh and when I reinstall can I add some things? Like events and such?

XP packs is not necessary at all, but can help with faster exping.
Game system using "experience penalty", while you fighting against monsters which no have you level, in both directions - lower, higher. Yes, in case that level is higher it is total nonsense, conflicting with all RPG rules, but this system is from original game made by Flagship. (I suppose it was prevent quick leveling for low level players in online game, ingenious thought  ::) )
So, if you have problems while gameplay, try farming xp in some level where monsters is on your level, or in level where level of monsters is always same like yours (Piccadilly Circus - Beral, Southwark bridge - Rashaverak, Trinity Square - Katamari ...)

So why do the levels bounce all over the place in NM mode?
You do a bunch of story missions from Templar Base that are like level 46 and 47 then go back to Monument and get Tower of London which is level 38. Then Aldgate starts @ 38 and the next map is 44?

Edit: and upon playing more I gotta say how dumb this is. I deliberately had to level up for the Templar Base Missions and then I am running all kinds of stuff where I'm over-leveled so getting very little xp. I don't recall this happening before.

Quick Question? I am unable to craft any of the recipes from the Fawkes/Halloween events as it seems they need a "grenade"? Also if I reload the mod eliminating the events will it have any negative effects on my character? It really is a mess between what drops and what it does to my stash.

Edit: K nvm I killed Syd on NM and then went ahead and did it. Everything seems fine just had to sell off the mats/recipes I had collected. There's nothing extra dropping from the mobs now.

JK man lol this is a masterpiece. At some point I have to tear myself away from the story and make up an endgame for myself.

I mean with Hellgate ..... where do I level up? Wherever you want. As long as you're in the xp bracket you can level in so many places. I love the fact that you get good xp for killing mobs in this game.

Ah yes that explains it all right. Odds are quite low and certainly good for farmers  :P I'll see if I'm that dedicated. Having a lot of fun but my time here is in between. Feels funny to farm and build in a SP environment yet I do it in other games (shrug) .......

No matter what I try, unrevival 4 doesn't allow the game to load into Single player, once installed through the launcher. Plays perfectly fine through the launcher when it is reverted. Regardless of options from unrevival, the game loads to the menu, but once single player is clicked, the game force closes.

Any suggestions?

Hi, The Revival SP Modification, I play the version 1.2 of the SP before you install the mod, you can increase your character to level 100 max, is it possible to boost a character to level 1000 that would attribute points increased according to the 1000 level, the fact that the Steam version of the game sees 100 character and, accordingly, attribute points more, but if you break through the cheat engine the game does not retain all the attributes reset to zero ;D

Max character level in Revival is 55, in Steam version 50 (+rank 50) and in Nagahaku mod optionally 60.
Steam version have doubled attribute cost on items, so you need for equip items points from ranks.

One thing i found is when using napalm strike i cant see the little grenade marker, it does a throwing animation but nothing comes out, still causes the fire explosion but i can never know where's gonna land because of this.

OK well gotta say I'm just a little disappointed. Finally get everything I needed to make that special "gun". I go to Threadneedle and kill Death and he drops........absolutely nothing. Seems rather anticlimactic with all that I went through to complete this one.

Edit: Just ran it again and he dropped loot this time. No idea what happened the first time.

No. You can run all events in same time, only order of Nemo quests will be little bit confusing (some event quests is repeatable).
