I love games that scare the cr*p out of you...I play games like F.E.A.R ...
The music really does impact all gameplay, imo..
The last game that legitimately caused me to flinch, was the original F.E.A.R.  I think there were 2 or 3 places that caused me to momentarily recoil.

As for music in games generally.....I turn it off.
A notable exception was Bioshock....while some of it began to get a touch annoying, on the whole it truly contributed to the game's immersion experience.  (No pun intended.)

Sound effects are something that takes a practised and experienced ear to not only find but also incorporate into a game ... Does anyone know what the 'Laser Beam' sound effect was for the first Star Wars Movie (Episode 4 'A new Hope) was? ... One of the sound engineer's striking a steel wrench on a high voltage power cable attached to a large power pole near his house ... Or the sound  for the Millennium Falcon? ... A V12 Rolls Royce Merlin Engine form a WW2 Air craft sped up many times ... Sound effects come in may shapes and sizes and most 'Audio Geeks' have thousands of sound samples sitting on their hard drives (I'm sure prometheus has a few at least) waiting for the right place to use it

Well when I ment background music to be onest I wasnt thinking of rock band tunes
I was thinking we could look at music from other games mostly horror types.

And here's a bit of sound history for ya the noise the TARDIS makes when it is appearing or disappearing that came from someone scraping there car keys up n down a piano string

Im not an Audio Geek

I mean, for Medal of Honor they flew their sound engineers to some pacific islands because the grass sounded different than normal grass.. erm... i want to much money too!!!!

And like i said, i dont steal music, no matter how sucky i am, and how good they are. Its just not my work then.
I have a library of roundabout 50.000 different weapon sounds, i guess that should do the trick, but i will only change those out in HG:R which have.. too less "power" and overhaul all equilizer settings since most guns miss urgend BASS :)
