Title: Transmogrifying Cube tutorial.
Post by: Tirex on Nov 02, 2009; 02:50 PM
I noticed that people dont seem to understand how to use some of the cube's recipes.

First of all you need to get it. The Transmogrifier can be acquiered from Nemo in Holborn Station.
Second of all you need to make sure you have all of the required materials.
Once you have the materials, place them in the Cube. You should see this:

If you place the correct materials and have the requiered amount of them then after pressing Create you will see this:

Here's a list of what needs to be put in and what will be the result. From top to bottom.
Note: You do not need to have the exact same amount of materials. Any amount above the ones in the ( )'s will do.
Note2: Crafted items have the possiblity of having varying quality.

How-to create seperate stacks: Put your current material stack in either the cube or your stash and dismantle a few items. Now you should have two stacks of the same material.

Credits to spag for updating the recipes.

Ah I think Mayean intended for each individual to *find* the recipes on their own...

There is a really easy way *for founders only* to find the entire cube recipes.   I'll post how on the founders forums i guess now...

Thanks for that as couldn't see all the ingredients listed in the cube, as there was now way to scroll the list sideways to see all the ingredients listed in the top few.

Nah I encourage community members to collaborate their findings, its fun :)

Originally I did want to implement a bunch of secret recipes but unfortunetly the cube gamecode is so incomplete that you can only create recipes that are already listed. :(

This is probably a silly question, but after re-installing HG:L + 1.2 patch; I applied the 1.0 stable.
Got the cube from Joey, but it won't open.
Is there something else I need to do, or is this time for another re-install?

Wow!  I am very sorry for my post I quoted.... realized next day that as long as the cube stays in inventory it will open. Only if it is in the stash will it not open.
I feel like an idiot.  lol

Joey/s second quest. Added that to the main post.

For some reason I can make only  mods. I want to make something else, nothing happens. I'm certain I put right items in it, I have checked it several times, but when I click "create" I will not get a sword. Well, I am happy it does not steal my scraps and still not giving anything. I must be doing something wrong, just cannot understand what. I make all kinds of mods and it works like a charm. But nothing else comes out.

Is there a recipe for boots or footwear? I don't see one in the first post, and I can't read the full recipes on the cube itself.

I knew I was missing something, thanks for pointing that out. Added it on the list.

To Tirex.Have noticed that the recipe for the gloves is the same as the recipe for the boots. If so,do they ramdomly appear at the same place.
Title: Re: Transmogrifying Cube tutorial.
Post by: Tirex on Nov 24, 2009; 10:15 AM
Hmm, indeed they are. I checked with Reanimator and the recipes are the exact same, item wise not amount wise.
I guess we just found a new bug.
Not quite sure if it'll work, but I guess that selecting the last recipe in the list might get it to produce boots instead of gloves.

1h and 2h legendaries from the cube.
1h sometimes gives nothing, occasionally 3 nothings in a row.
The green evoker item did not give blue or legendary versions, so they may have been the misses.
2h gives XM57, Arclight thermite, poseiden and talon, no FS, XM55, firefox or Trident.
No uniques. Weapon levels matched char levels quite closely.

HGL has this occasional eccentricity when using the pre-packaged lvl 50 chars or hexed XP chars, it sometimes drops a few lvl 50 items into the mix.
If this happens when the cube is being used and that cube has been hexed to include some uniques, then Ruperts and Voodoo is what you get right out of the box.

hi,

im new here and would like to ask about a question regarding the cube formulas. is there any way to get the cube to make chests and boots, the engine seems only to want to make gloves and pants. barring that is there a way to unstack mats? thanks.

is there a way to unstack mats?
At one stage I could use a crafter to spit some mats out of a stack.
Find something they sell that uses the mat you want to split, drag in the mat, it accepts only as much as the recipe calls for, close the crafter window and you got a split stack.
You could rinse and repeat. You can also put your mats in the locker and go farm a second stack. Long time since I did it but I guess it still works.

Yes, the Transmogrifying Cube is now available for SP via our "Fun-Patch". There are also some other items available for SP that were previously only available in MP. To get an overview of all the new features or to download the patch, go here http://http://www.hellgateaus.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=4. A short tutorial on how to install these patches can be found here http://http://www.hellgateaus.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=991.

That is FANTASTIC!!  I can't tell you how long I've been playing SP and didn't realize this forum was here.  I'm so glad someone told me about it.  I miss HGL so much.  Nice to see I'm not the only one.  :) :) :)  And thank you for the tip.  This is too kewl.  Now, to figure out how to get the Zombot ticker, organ & blood parts I need to make my pet.

1. Make sure you start a new character as "Elite for Normal". You will get good mobs and loot without the XP penalities.
2. If those mobs aren't challenging enough or dropping enough zombot bits, look into installing DAWE1313's mod - it greatly increases the mob quality and density - and adds a lot more PALA to the treasure passageways as an added bonus.

Good luck, follow the mod instructions and if in doubt just ask... lots of helpful people on the forums here (just like the old days)  :).

Thank you for the speedy response.  I'll have to try that.  So, I have to be in Elite Normal mode to get the zombot pieces?  I bought the schematic in Normal mode, but I guess I can't get it that way.  Ok, thank you very much for being so helpful.

No, you can get them in Normal mode too, but the drops are better in Elite Normal (like the old Elite mode but without the penalties that FSS imposed in the original game). So with better drops you have a better chance of getting the parts you need, plus you will level faster - it's like the MP days of power leveling, except you're all by yourself  .

The recipe listed here for shoulder guards and focus items are the same.
So every time I try to create a focus artifact I get some lousy shoulder guards.

Wrong recipe? Bug? Am I doing it wrong?

To add new recipes to the cube you'll need to hex edit the recipes.txt.cooked file or use or Reanimator editor to do it for you. The editor is only available to our founding members currently sorry.

Heya folks.  This is mildly embarassing but I was having some fps problems looked and noticed that shadows were set to medium instead of low and before updating to 1.2 i had it set to low (i thought) so i reverted and checked sure enough that was the case.  Well i kinda forgot about the cube on my blade master.....  so i get the game back to the modded version (after doing the chocolate park quest low fps on that is your enemy).  While doing some inventory cleaning I noticed my cube was missing, went back to nemo and i can't get another one from him, is there a way i can get another one or am i SOL til i beat sydonai?

Hey there.  Can you tell me how did you add the unique recipes to the cube?  I've been trying to find the hex values for it but no luck.  Thanks.

Sorry for late reply, "luck" gave me one of those "interesting" years.
Currently trying to catch up with Reanimator and a years progress.
Hexing in the dark was interesting back then, too much guesswork.

First- The second recipe (for a rocket mod) in recipes.txt.cooked was one of the cheapest so I changed the quantities to 1 scrap and 1 tech and changed the reward to the 2h weapon reward ponter 26 01 at address 3A0. I was making a profit from scrapping the unwanted items. Its now easier to change these with Reanimator.

Second- In treasure.txt.cooked I was looking at the 2h weapon cube reward randomizer at 002BAD60 because I wanted Dunbars and Lees and all my MM characters get Hiks instead.

01 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
I called this the White string, changing the 00 to 05 (at 002BAE90) gave me "floor sweepings" white consumables.

01 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 05 00 00 00 Green(?) string
changing the 04 to 08 (at 002BAEE8) got me my first unique "create".

01 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 Blues(?)
Changing the final 04 to 00 (@002BAF3C) gaves less blues, maybe more legends.

01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF wtf(?)
should this be 00 00 00 00 instead of FF FF FF FF?
The 00 is @002B2BAE.
Messed with these numbers trying to find an optimum mix but it got horribly confused.
At one stage 1-4 or 1-7 creates gave a unique but other times it got to 1 in 40 creates.

There was the same problem that you have with vendors, half the time you get the Arclite and Mirv half of the weapons, other times the FS and Firefox half. It got too confusing and I still didnt get the Duns and Niks I was after.

Mod- PM me if you want this shifted to "Hexing the Cube" and I will leave a link here instead.

Ok either I'm totally stupid or somethings broken for me. None of the listed recipes seem to work for me.
