The only major difference between the standard FSS Female Tech Heavy Armour and the 'Avalon Armour' is the addition of a few extra 'glowy bits' and a slightly modified colour mask and specular map to more closely match the Armour Avalon wears in the Train Tunnel Trailer ... it works with the addition of a modified coloursets.xml file to have a colour scheme that matches the trailer version i.e. Silver/Grey Armour, Black Lycra Undersuit and Pale Blue Glow

You have to put the Files in the download package into the Hellgate London/data directory and the run the HellgateZap Utility. Thats all you need to do (maybe backup before :))

i guess i should have been a little more specific. my question should have been, what is the proper directory path necessary?

just drop them directly into the Hellgate Londondata folder?

or do they need to go into a subfolder(s)?

Oh ok, afaik they need to be put in the correct subfolders.
I usually pack them in folders, so that you can easily just extract them into the data folder.

The armor items go into this subfolders: data/units/players/class (cabalist, hunter or templar) and then into a few more specifications as gender and armor type.

thanks. that's more what i was looking for.

Jak's shield recolorations were packed with the full path so all that is necessary is to merge his /data folder with any existing, and they go down several levels. plus he included backup copies of the original files similarly packed.

the various armors in this post just had one folder with the various graphic files in them. so i was wondering if they were meant to be installed as a mod or if the authors were basically just sharing the files with each other.

so, if i wanted to see Berit's Hunter armor in game, i would need to extract it into /data/units/players/hunter/*graphic files* and then zap it?

i tried:

  • dataunitsplayershunter*.*

and the hglzap log said "No .IDX files affected (nothing changed) by hglzap!" in all 3 tries.  :(

it recognized the files, but couldn't find appropriate entries in the .IDX records to change.

oh well. not going to stress it. it was just an idle thought.

Ah the download now worked for me (it didn't last time)

the Correct Path is: dataunitsplayershunterhunter_female_3ptech_light
and then only extract the files (not the hunter folder itself) into that directory.

  • dataunitsplayershunterhunter_female_3ptech_lighthf_tech_light_specular.dds
  • dataunitsplayershunterhunter_female_3ptech_lighthf_tech_light_normal_bc5.dds
  • dataunitsplayershunterhunter_female_3ptech_lighthf_tech_light_normal.dds
