Hey, how is everyone going?

I'm trying to get some info about my build and other. Bryan already been giving me some support and info on the T3 forum, but i've "moved" to here, better theme :D

This is the actual build i'm setting up (please note, i'm lvling, still lvl 14, and with low knowledge of the game, so it might be an absurd build, this is also based with the spec of my friend that is playing Marksman, so i'm trying to lend him defensive support, while being able to do something instead of being a punching bag)

http://www.hellgateaus.info/planner/#Guardian,55,50,1,v1.0000160033211700660203200000040442

I'm trying to get a 3weapon set, Sword&Shield being the main weapon selection, a 2handed sword to get those blasted flyers (the 2m range actually helps alot, not wanting to spent 1 point in heavens arc for a skill only usefull vs flyers), and a pair of dual wield guns.

Any suggestion, idea, etc is welcome :D

Regards

Changed the build link
Removed Hamper/Shield Wall/Prayer of Retribution/Great Defender

My build is based on the "retail" points, so i only have 56 points to allocate. Since i'm not planning to buy the extra 10 each for 5k points witch is quite expensive IMO.

So i'm kinda limited to my spec, what should i change? Maybe since i'm not plannnig being full point, it's not worth having 2 points in Grand Aura and 3 in Aura stability, or maybe decreasing 1 in each and add on the renewel/defense aura.

Suggestions?

too wide spreading: you won't be able to wear good gear if you want to be able to carry guns AND swords. you can try to have all three weapon setups, but then you probably will be too fragile. or you can be fine with sword and board, but won't be able to carry any guns. as for the skill points...  I WANT THEM ALL!!! now to be serious, i would remove SoR, because it adds BASIC weapon damage, which means it's like you have 21 more strength. you have shield skills already, which will work with two-handers!

how about that?

the idead is to take all general skills, which won't depend on your current weapon(sorry, could not resist from all those shield skills).
even less shield-dependent:

I'd say the 2nd one appeals to me more. Perhaps you'll need aura of defense as well, maybe by lowering anchor. And shield throw would be of use, even more so since it appeals to you.

Edit: Oh,as a point of reference for other users who may have similar setups/questions/etc as you,let me link our conversation on the t3 forums as well.

List of Global class guides.
The above guides may be obsolete for vanilla SP, but they may still hold true to an extent for some mods and 2038.

Thanks you for you suggestion Violet.

Got 1 question towards your build, how does the Prayer of Retribution works? I mean, i know i click on it and there goes a blast (AoE?) but what i mean is, the damage, spectral is a elemental type, i get it, but what is the phasing? And what about the "string 1" and "string 2" formula?

About sword and guns, they don't need and won't have similar power, the guns will be more for kicking some flyers or even some ranged, but not much, since i prefer it hack and slash.

All these build are helping me to notice what is worth and what is not.

damage of PoR is not very big on any character or skill level to consider it as a damage dealing skill, BUT it phases enemies, which means they will deal like (if i'm correct) 25% less damage and receive 25% more. AOE spreads out of you and ends on your maximum aura reach.

guns needs too much investments to make them useful and don't forget you also have to wear armor and, in your case, be able to keep two more sets of non-similar weaponry. this is extremely stats-intense.

it's better be going with auras or shield skills with melee weawpons. it is not required to tank things with your shield up until you're on to some hellish bosses, you can have fun with two-hander almost all the game. almost. in hell difficulty parties there is no place for 2h-guardian, since he deals not even nearly as high damage as the other classes could and he can't tank, since he's aiming for damages and do not have enough toughness from his skills.

btw, guardian character of mine was the one which received "marauder of darkness" title the earliest  8) 8) 8) earlier than even my striker, lawl! once i entered an ancient blood, run around it collecting all the creatures, the waited a bit in the center of the room and hacked with my splash damage sword few times. there was lag and blood and level and loot and so satisfying feeling of invincibility! later there were a few levels where i put my guardian in nightmare difficluty and left for my needs. and when i came back i have seen corpses of those who throwed themselves onto my guardian's spikes an gethit novas and my guardian's shields was full and his health was almost full. i love guardians. they're epic.

You can just use your taunts, heaven's arc or a lowbie grappling gun to deal with flyers, for what it's worth.

For PoR, I usually use it in combination with anchor, challenge and shield turn. Maybe Stampede in the combo as well, but Stampede has some targeting problems so you might want to test it out via a +skill item before you actually put any points into it.
